Fly fishing is our passion. Trout are our cause. Healthy waters are our goal.
Started in 1959 by 16 anglers in Grayling, Michigan who wanted to protect their local river, Trout Unlimited has grown to 300,000 members in almost 400 local chapters throughout the country. Today, TU employs professional scientists, grassroots organizers, lawyers and policy experts, who, together with its grassroots membership and volunteer activists, make TU the nation’s leading river and fisheries conservation organization.
TU’s mission is to conserve, protect, restore, and sustain North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. “Take care of the fish and the fishing will take care of itself.” This simple idea launched TU and it inspires us still.
Meetings for our local Ashokan-Pepacton Chapter are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Boiceville Inn on Route 28. Most meetings include fly-tying or other demonstrations, discussions of chapter business and local stream-related issues and a guest speaker, presentation or slide show.
